On July 9th, R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (R.M. Chin) joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Department of Transportation Commissioner Rebekah Scheinfeld, Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce President Tony Shu, and other project team members in breaking ground on the second phase of the Wells-Wentworth Connector – a multi-phase project to connect Chicago’s Chinatown to Downtown. R.M. Chin is providing construction management services and public outreach support as a subconsultant to Michael Baker for this upcoming phase.

“Having grown up around Chinatown, this project is truly transformative for the community and near and dear to my family,” said R.M. Chin President Eileen Chin. “I drive through this intersection every day taking my kids to school on 23rd Street.”

The second phase, Section 2, involves the realignment of Wentworth Avenue between Archer Avenue and Cermak Road as well as the addition of a new plaza on the east side of Wentworth Avenue at 19th Street to highlight the Ping Tom Memorial Park entrances.

The first phase of the project, which involved the reconstruction of Wentworth Avenue between 17th Street and 19th Street, was completed in 2017.

The Wells-Wentworth Connector complements the City’s comprehensive plan, Building on Burnham.
