On September 6th, the American Public Works Association (APWA) City Branch welcomed Mr. Xie Xiaofan, Chief of Visitors Delegation, Vice President of China Municipal Engineering Association, and nine other public works leaders from China to discuss infrastructure, public works, and engineering in China. After the lunch presentation, a panel of local agency leaders led an interactive Q&A session. What a great opportunity to learn from industry leaders locally and internationally!

The following day, the Chinese Delegation met with local public works agencies responsible for Chicago’s infrastructure – roads, bridges, tunnels, water supply, and drainage – and had the chance to visit project sites.

We’re proud to recognize Beth Tatro, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications at R.M. Chin, for her involvement in the coordination of Illinois Tollway site visits, which included the I-90 SmartRoad and Barrington Road In-line Station.

The Chicago Metropolitan Chapter is the oldest and one of the largest, most active Chapters of the APWA and is known for their dedicated leadership. Their mission is to provide educational opportunities for members and future members by increasing awareness of the vital role of public works in everyday life, supporting causes to advance the profession, and providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and information.
