On November 15th, R.M. Chin team members joined Jamie Rhee, Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner, at the November American Society of Civil Engineers Transportation & Development Institute (ASCE T&DI) Luncheon hosted at Hofbräuhaus in Rosemont.
Commissioner Jamie Rhee manages one the world’s busiest airport systems, comprised of O’Hare and Midway International Airports, which serves more than 100 million passengers each year and propels Chicago as a global leader for air cargo activity.
During her presentation, she discussed O’Hare 21 – an $8.5 billion capital improvement plan that will transform O’Hare with the biggest terminal expansion ever, adding 25 percent more gate capacity, modernizing existing terminals, and improving passengers’ experience. These upgrades are set to grow O’Hare’s overall terminal square footage from 5.5 to 8.9 million square feet.
The ASCE Foundation provides support for programs that enhance the quality of life, promote the civil engineering profession, advance technical practices, and prepare civil engineers for tomorrow. R.M. Chin was proud to be a level one gold sponsor at the luncheon and looks forward to the growth and new projects at the airports in the upcoming years.
