R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (R.M. Chin) is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael Levar to Director – Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Michael will spearhead commercial and business development initiatives and develop long-term strategic positioning for the firm. Michael will also be responsible for coordinating R.M. Chin’s considerable talent to ensure projects are staffed and completed to exceed client expectations.
Michael has more than a decade of experience in Construction Management and Operations Management. Michael was instrumental in securing R.M. Chin’s role on the GEC/CM contract for the construction of the new I-74 bridge between Iowa and Illinois over the Mississippi River and he will be establishing the project controls for that project. He recently served as the East Corridor Construction Manager for the rehabilitation and widening of the I-90 Jane Addams Memorial Tollway – a $2.2 billion program involving mainline roadway and underpass bridge reconstruction, overpass bridge, retaining/noise wall, utility relocation, and Intelligent Transportation System-related projects. As the primary liaison between Illinois Tollway Management and engineering firms tasked with eastern segment construction, Michael coordinated with local municipalities, the Illinois Department of Transportation, Cook County, utility companies, outside agencies, and other adjacent Tollway projects and staff to preserve the East Corridor schedule and budget.
An active member of the American Council of Engineering Companies, Michael was appointed to serve on Engineering Excellence Awards Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Construction Management Association of America and the Women’s Transportation Seminar.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Norbert College in De Pere. He also completed a Project Management Certification program at the University of Chicago. This May, he will earn a Master of Science in Project Management from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
“Through his incredible work ethic, Mike has strengthened our relationships with existing clients and plays a strategic role in moving forward my vision for R.M. Chin. I am excited to see him excel in this new position,” stated R.M. Chin President Eileen Chin.
Michael is featured as one of Crain’s Chicago Business People on the Move for January.
