CCDoTH Pulaski Road/Crawford Avenue Phase I Corridor Study

CCDoTH Pulaski Road/Crawford Avenue Phase I Corridor Study

This study encompasses the four-mile stretch of Pulaski Road from 127th Street in Alsip to 159th Street in Markham to evaluate future transportation needs along the corridor and recommend various improvements to the transportation infrastructure. This includes the replacement of the bridge over the Cal-Sag Channel, roadway improvements (such as pavement and intersection upgrades), and enhancing pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, to improve mobility, safety, and condition of transportation facilities for all users.

Stakeholder Input

As part of the project team, CHIN coordinates with and receives input from local and organizational stakeholders. CHIN has conducted virtual meetings where participants could ask questions and collaborate with the project team, comparable to traditional Cook County DOTH in-person meetings. Virtual one-on-one sessions with each municipality will allow residents to discuss their concerns, issues, and goals for the corridor. CHIN also advised developing the projects Corridor Advisory Committee (CAC), which has been convened to meet throughout the project to report on project direction, needs, and details.

Community Engagement

To help bring the community in early on the project, the CHIN team developed an interactive mapping survey allowing community members to identify the major issues, opportunities, and priorities along the corridor. This survey and a regularly updated project-specific website have enabled community members to follow along with the project and provide an ongoing feedback loop to the project team outside of scheduled public meetings. This project requires community input and feedback as many of the design alternatives for consideration are dependent on the desired use and look and feel of the roadway.
