CCDoTH 175th Street Construction Management
R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) is providing construction engineering and project management services to the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDoTH) for the reconstruction of 175th Street from Oak Park Avenue through Ridgeland Avenue and on Ridgeland Avenue from 175th Street to Oak Forest Avenue. This project supports Cook County’s Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and resonates as a signature
improvement for advancing the County’s $1.31B 2023 to 2027 Multi-Year Program. In partnership with the Village of
Tinley Park, the improvement demonstrates the County’s willingness to promote community and economic
development to adjacent municipalities.
Scope of Work
The 1.4-mile project scope entails
the reconstruction and widening of
175th Street and Ridgeland Avenue
roadways to a three-lane section
complete with curb and gutter,
construction of new water main,
sanitary sewer, and sanitary sewer
force main, sanitary and storm
sewer pipelining, construction of
new sidewalks and off-street multi use paths, decorative street
lighting, permanent traffic signals,
pavement markings, signage, and
landscaping improvements.
Key Features & Challenges
The project is nestled within a
complex myriad of commercial and
residential properties, electrical
power lines, and the Rock Island
Railroad, creating an overall
“tightness” in maintaining safe and
continuous traffic flow on 175th
Street and Ridgeland Avenue under
a staged construction process.
Additionally, meticulous erosion
control inspection is required for
Freedom Pond, the recently
constructed naturalized pond
located at the northeast corner of
175th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.
