American Airlines Admirals Club

R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) provided Owner’s Representative and Construction Management services for the relocation and construction of a new American Airlines (AA) Admirals Club at LaGuardia International Airport (LGA). CHIN’s team was instrumental in the delivery of the 22,000 sf, $22M project ahead of schedule and within budget.

The project involved the relocation of the existing AA Admirals Club in Terminal C into a new Terminal B location, where AA’s operations are centered. The new club is a much larger space than its predecessor, which opened in 1939, has a capacity of 364 people and features high-end finishes in tile, natural wood, quartz countertops, wallcoverings, and carpeting.

Designed for Quality and Comfort

State-of-the-art amenities are abundant, which required CHIN’s supervision for implementation. Those amenities include:
» A new entryway and reception area with guest services for airline transactions
» Lounge and private seating
» A business center with mobile phone booths and conference rooms
» A game room
» Expanded food and beverage with two full-service bars
» Window views of the airfield

Challenges and Solutions

» The project’s location rested on a mezzanine above an active concourse, which required the use of a 60’ exterior scaffold and access stairs for material deliveries. This required project phasing to mitigate flight impacts.

» LGA’s overall project schedule drove Phase 1’s opening date up 45 days, causing adjustments and expediting of work to meet deadlines.
