DFW Integrated Operations Center

R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) served as Program Manager on the new DFW Integrated Operations Center (IOC). In this role, CHIN was responsible for developing the program timeline, budget, and overall facility activation. CHIN oversaw a cross-functional team, including the professional consulting team responsible for organizational change management, process development, including KPI development, and technology and systems integration.

This project supported DFW’s 2016/2020 Strategic Plan to create a next-generation facility that will improve airport efficiency, with an emphasis on world-class, end-to-end customer experience through the collaboration of multiple departments. The IOC was necessary due to projected passenger increases, which were expected to increase from 65 million to 71 million annually by 2020. The IOC officially opened in April 2021.

Project Features

The 40,000-SF, 24/7 operational DFW IOC will house approximately 100 staff, including external organizations, and is sized to accommodate future growth. The IOC will bring together staff and operational functions from across the airport, including groups that don’t currently work together in the same facility. This integration drives the need for new processes and systems. The IOC will be staffed with a cross-functional team representing Operations, DPS, ETAM, Customer Experience, Environmental Affairs, ITS, TBU, Communications, and TSA. The IOC team is using a collaborative approach to ensure that all employees throughout the organization are represented in developing the new integrated processes.

Additional Features include an emergency operations center for all levels of activations, an open floor plan to encourage collaboration, conference rooms, a workout facility, quiet rooms, a kitchen/break area, a mother’s room, lockers, and outdoor areas.
