IDOT District 3 Various/Various Phase III Projects
R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) is providing Various/Various Phase III Construction Inspection services for the Illinois Department of Transportation – Region 2/District 3 under PTB 195-034 for various roadway improvement projects. The following projects are relevant examples of CHIN’s capabilities to work as a team with the Illinois Department of Transportation to deliver construction projects successfully.
Milling and Resurfacing of Route 23
The project involved construction inspection for approximately $3,700,000 milling and resurfacing along IL-23 from IL-72 to IL-64. Improvements included curb and gutter, installation of ADA ramps and storm sewer structures and pipes, pavement striping, rumble strip, type B stone shoulder, landscaping and erosion control, ditch cleaning, and guard rail. CHIN was responsible for inspection and oversight of construction activities, HMA paving, enforcement of specifications and standards, documentation of activities and quantities, inspection reports, and close out.
Widening and Rumble Strip Installation
The project included approximately five miles of shoulder widening and rumble strip installation on US 45/23 from Bourbonnais Pkwy to County Line Rd. CHIN was responsible for verifying the shoulder widening layout, including all earth excavation quantities. CHIN oversaw the locating and sampling, and removal of regulated substances.
HMA Resurfacing Route 23
The project consisted of 2¾ inches of resurfacing from Indian Trail to Oaktree Lane and 3¾” milling and resurfacing from Oaktree Lane to IL 17. The work included updating ADA ramps and replacing the existing detector loops affected by the milling process. CHIN oversaw the verification of QAQC for concrete pavement patches, quantities of pavement removals, and replacements, including observing IDOT independent weight checks.
