R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) provided construction management services as a subconsultant for Provident Hospital’s new Clinical Triage and Stabilization Center. This important mental health support facility is part of the $400 million Cook County Health and Hospital Portfolio. The CHIN team played a crucial role in ensuring the project’s successful completion.
A Brand-New Space for Mental Health
The Clinical Triage and Stabilization Center was designed to offer expert care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges that do not require emergency department or inpatient hospitalization.
Open 24/7, the center featured a soothing environment with comfortable recliners instead of traditional hospital beds. Patients could choose between spaces for social interaction or retreat to a quiet room for individual relaxation. The space emphasized comfort and calm, helping patients feel at ease while receiving care.
Challenges & Solutions
One challenge during construction was creating an environment that provided safety and comfort for individuals in crisis. The design needed to accommodate those who required immediate care while also fostering a peaceful atmosphere.
To address this, CHIN collaborated closely with the project team to incorporate calming design elements and functional spaces that met patient needs without sacrificing security or comfort
