R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc. (CHIN) is providing Phase III Engineering Services for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for various roadway improvement projects. As the prime consultant, CHIN managed multiple projects throughout District Two that ranged from Galena to Rock Falls, providing a Project Manager, Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, and Construction Inspectors to the projects.

Project Description

CHIN provided a full-service construction management team to oversee multiple projects, which included patching and resurfacing, bridge repair, rehabilitation, replacement, widening and resurfacing, vertical/horizontal realignment, and new roadways. Our responsibilities included:
» Construction inspection.
» Documentation of pay item quantities.
» Processing of authorizations, pay estimates, and weekly reports through CMMS.

Work Orders

» IL40 over I-88 and U.S. 30 over I-88: bridge deck repairs, expansion joint replacement, partial and full deck slab repairs, retrofit of concrete parapet, parapet repairs, and microsilica concrete overlay on the bridge deck slab.
» US30 over Elkhorn Creek: deck slab and barrier rail repairs, traffic control, and protection.
» Buell Road and Riverdale Road over I-88: overlay replacement, concrete repairs, and replacement of expansion joint seals.
» Yorktown Road over I-88: overlay replacement and deck and concrete repairs.
» I-88 over Rock Creek, BN RR, and TR136A/Henry Road: joint replacement, bridge deck scarification, bridge deck and approach patching, abutment and pier repairs, slopewall repairs, latex concrete overlay, diamond grinding, pavement marking, and restoration.
